27kV Composite Surge Arrester Polymer Metal Oxide Lightning Arrester for Power Distribution
Metal oxide surge arresters use zinc oxide semiconductor as the resistive material; these arresters are also called metal oxide surge arresters or zinc oxide shunts. They provide protection against all types of AC and DC overvoltages and are primarily used for overvoltage protection at various voltage levels in power systems.

Product Overview
Composite surge arresters are critical overvoltage protection devices specifically designed for medium- and high-voltage (3kV-36kV) power systems. Their core component is a metal oxide varistor (MOV), encapsulated in a high-performance silicone rubber composite housing. Their primary function is to quickly clamp and transfer transient overvoltages caused by lightning strikes or operational faults to ground, preventing damage to transformers, switchgear, and other critical electrical equipment. The silicone rubber housing’s excellent hydrophobicity, corrosion resistance, and lightweight properties enable composite surge arresters to withstand harsh outdoor environments, making them the preferred choice for global power grids, renewable energy, and infrastructure projects.
Working conditions
-
Ambient air temperature: -40℃ to +40℃.
-
Altitude:
-

-
The power frequency voltage applied between the terminals of the surge arrester shall not exceed the continuous operating voltage of the surge arrester.
-
The earthquake intensity is less than 8 degrees.
-
Maximum. Wind speed is 35 m/s.
Application Location
Polymer surge arresters are widely used in a variety of applications to protect electrical systems from transient overvoltages. Here are some common applications where these arresters play a crucial role:
- Distribution networks: They are used to protect distribution systems from lightning strikes and voltage surges caused by switching operations.
- Transmission lines: Polymer surge arresters are installed along high-voltage transmission lines to protect the system from overvoltages from various sources.
- Substations: These are used in substations to protect transformers, circuit breakers, and other critical equipment from damage caused by voltage spikes.
- Industrial plants : Factories and industrial facilities rely on these surge arresters to protect machinery and control systems from electrical interference.
