Qinghai-Tibet ±400 kV HVDC Phase II Expansion
±400 kV DC / 220 kV ACSUNENG supplied selected electrical products and components for the Qinghai-Tibet HVDC Phase II expansion project.
Project context.
The Qinghai-Tibet HVDC Phase II expansion combines work at the Golmud and Lhasa ±400 kV converter stations with synchronous-condenser installations at Duolin and Deji. The electrical scope includes additional converter transformers, dry-type smoothing reactors and AC filter equipment.
The Lhasa connection works add two 220 kV outgoing bays and the Lapeng III and Laduo III lines. Together, these two new lines extend 45.305 km, with a further 0.999 km of associated line relocation. The project brings converter-station equipment, reactive-power support and high-altitude overhead-line connections into one coordinated grid expansion.
Electrical scope
- Converter transformers
- Each converter station adds six 117.7 MVA units plus one spare.
- Smoothing reactors
- Four 300 mH dry-type smoothing reactors are added at each converter station.
- AC filters
- Golmud: 405 Mvar capacity increase; Lhasa: 420 Mvar added capacity.
- Synchronous condensers
- Duolin and Deji each add one 50 Mvar synchronous condenser and one 63 MVA transformer.
- Lapeng III line
- 25.026 km of new 220 kV line with 67 towers.
- Laduo III and relocation
- 20.279 km of new 220 kV line with 48 towers; associated relocation totals 0.999 km and two towers.
